Broome County’s new wind farm producing noise complaints

Some individuals who stay close to the generators of a recently-constructed wind farm east of Binghamton are already fed up with the noise generated by the power.

The Bluestone Wind Venture in jap Broome County was commissioned in September. It consists of 26 generators within the cities of Windsor and Sanford. Every 240-foot-long turbine is mounted to a 350-foot-tall put up.

4 of the generators are in Windsor with many of the models of the 122-megawatt challenge in Sanford. The models are scattered throughout about 6,000 rural acres.

The city of Sanford board has heard complaints from just a few residents who aren’t proud of the noise they’re listening to from the turbine websites. Three individuals introduced up the noise situation on the board’s Tuesday night time assembly.

Patrice VanSlyke instructed WNBF Information on Wednesday that the turbine blades have been idle for the previous couple of days. She mentioned she doesn’t know why they seem to have been shut off.

VanSlyke mentioned she’s lived in Sanford for about 50 years. She mentioned when the generators are working, she hears a continuing “buzzing” noise. The turbine blades can also create a “whooshing” sound when they’re spinning quickly.

VanSlyke mentioned she’s “very shocked by all of the noise.” She mentioned there have been instances when she has been unable to sleep due to it. She submitted a criticism to Bluestone however she mentioned the corporate suggested her that the noise is being stored inside acceptable limits.

Toronto-based Northland Energy owns the wind farm. An organization consultant didn’t instantly reply to telephone and e mail requests for remark.
