Over the Veterans’ Day weekend, the iron-hulled crusing ship Star of India left her dock on the Maritime Museum of San Diego, setting sail, for the primary time in 5 years, to rejoice her one hundred and sixtieth birthday. A brief information video:
Constructed and launched in 1863 by Ramsey Shipyard within the Isle of Man and initially named Euterpe, San Diego’s iconic Star of India is alleged to be the world’s oldest energetic crusing ship and has circumnavigated the globe twenty-one instances. Star of India first got here to the Metropolis of San Diego in 1927. It was not till 1951 when Maritime Museum of San Diego made long-awaited historic renovations to the vessel initially named Euterpe, after the Greek goddess of music and poetry. Star of India depends on Maritime Museum of San Diego volunteers and a dedicated employees for her maintenance.
