Nationwide Grid invests £130m in overhead line refurbishment


Nationwide Grid has dedicated £130 million to bolster its current overhead line community, spanning 170 kilometres from Lincoln to Stevenage.

The challenge includes putting in 2,919 kilometres of recent overhead line conductor to exchange the unique infrastructure from the Sixties, nearing the top of its scheduled working lifespan.

Three of the 4 north-south circuits on the electrical energy transmission community have already undergone refurbishment. The completion of the fourth circuit is anticipated in 2024.

The refurbishment initiative, which started in March 2022, covers two challenge phases – the primary section, from Lincoln to Peterborough, was accomplished final 12 months.

The continued second section, from Stamford to Stevenage, has seen the set up of a further 1,479 kilometres of overhead line conductor.

The ultimate circuit, from Cambridgeshire to Hertfordshire, is scheduled for alternative, marking the conclusion of the challenge in 2024.
