Metocean Survey Launched For Floating Offshore Wind



Salamander, a three way partnership between Ørsted, Merely Blue Group, and Subsea 7, has launched floating LiDAR and wave buoys as a part of the metocean marketing campaign for the proposed floating offshore wind farm venture off the north-east of Scotland. 

The survey, performed by Fugro, will run for 12 months and produce insights that may inform the venture’s design, operations, and upkeep technique, in addition to help the planning software course of. 

Two floating SEAWATCH Wind Lidar Buoys and a Wavescan buoy have been deployed to collect important meteorological, oceanographic, and environmental website knowledge.  These embody wave top, wind and present velocity, and different region-specific metrics, enabling a complete evaluation of the location’s traits and seasonal situations.
