Metro mayors again Ofgem’s regional power planning reform


Metro mayors representing practically a 3rd of the UK’s inhabitants have expressed assist for Ofgem‘s proposed regional power planning reform at a coverage summit.

The initiative goals to streamline native planning processes, scale back crimson tape and help areas in creating roadmaps to attain internet zero targets.

The reform builds upon Ofgem’s efforts to expedite grid connections and speed up transmission infrastructure initiatives.

The latest summit, hosted by Ofgem’s Chief Govt Officer Jonathan Brearley, concerned discussions with mayors and native leaders on the implementation of detailed regional power plans throughout Britain.

Mayors attending the summit included Andy Avenue (West Midlands), Steve Rotheram (Liverpool Metropolis Area), Tracy Brabin (West Yorkshire), Jamie Driscoll (North of Tyne), Dr Nik Johnson (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough) and Councillor Gerald Cooney (Deputy for Better Manchester’s Mayor, Andy Burnham).

London’s Deputy Mayor for Setting and Vitality, Shirley Rodrigues, represented Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

Jonathan Brearley, Chief Govt Officer at Ofgem, mentioned: “Metro mayors have set out bold plans to satisfy each area’s internet zero targets, and we should work collectively to verify we are able to ship cleaner, greener power to each metropolis, road, residence and enterprise in each nook of Britain.”
