GE Vernova, MYTILINEOS Awarded Contract for Subsea Hyperlink


GE Vernova’s Grid Options and MYTILINEOS Vitality & Metals have been awarded a £1 billion contract by Nationwide Grid Electrical energy Transmission and SP Transmission for the U.Ok.’s first high-capacity east coast subsea hyperlink.

The consortium was chosen to produce and assemble two HVDC converter stations for the Jap Inexperienced Hyperlink 1 enterprise, which incorporates development of a 525 kV, 2 GW bipole VSC and HVDC subsea transmission cable from Torness in East Lothian, Scotland, to Hawthorn Pit in County Durham, England. 

GE Vernova and MYTILINEOS will moreover present engineering works and expertise for the 2 converter stations, which kind the terminals for the HVDC cable and convert the direct present to alternating present, enabling electrical energy transmission into the onshore community.
