Taihan Buys ‘Korea’s Solely Cable-Layer for Offshore Wind’


South Korean Taihan Cable & Resolution has acquired what is claimed to be Korea’s solely cable-laying vessel (CLV) for the offshore wind market.

Taihan, which introduced the acquisition on December 20, purchased the vessel for roughly USD 38.4 million (EUR 34.7 million).

The CLV, outfitted with self-propulsion and a DP2 system, can load as much as 4,400 tons of underwater cables directly and is able to crusing at 9 knots on common underneath its personal energy.

This acquisition is claimed to place Taihan competitively in turnkey tasks that span from submarine cable manufacturing to laying.
