The US shot down two missiles headed towards a container ship within the southern Pink Sea and launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen on Saturday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated.
A Singapore-flagged, Denmark-owned/operated container ship reported that it was struck by a missile and the USS Gravely and USS Laboon responded to the ship, CENTCOM stated in a publish on X, previously Twitter.
Whereas responding, the U.S. Navy destroyer Gravely shot down two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, CENTCOM added.
The vessel is reportedly seaworthy and there have been no reported accidents, CENTCOM stated.
The Iran-aligned Houthis, who management a lot of Yemen, have disrupted world commerce for weeks with assaults on ships passing by means of the Bab al-Mandab Strait on the southern finish of the Pink Sea in what they are saying is a response to Israel’s battle in Gaza.
That is the twenty third assault by the Houthis on worldwide transport since November 19, CENTCOM stated.
