Honduras state-owned energy firm ENEE has signed a contract with Geokeri to conduct a feasibility research for geothermal vitality era within the Choluteca municipality.

The state-owned energy firm of Honduras, ENEE, has signed a contract with Mexican consulting agency Geokeri to conclude the third and closing stage of a feasibility research for the manufacturing of geothermal vitality within the municipalities of Namasigue and El triunfo in Choluteca, south Honduras. The work is anticipated to take seven months and can begin in February 2024.

Monetary assist for the undertaking will come from the EUR 460,000 of non-refundable funds from the KfW Improvement Financial institution of Frankfurt, Germany. The Small Energy Crops Unit (UPC) of the ENEE will then present technical and logistical assist.

Honduras at the moment has a single geothermal energy plant – the 35-MW Geotermica Platanares, which has been working since 2017.
