A senior official in US President Joe Biden’s administration conceded that assembly the nation’s formidable 30GW by 2030 offshore wind goal would require “enormous modifications” in provide chain, vessels, and uncooked supplies markets.
Megan Carr, head of offshore vitality regulator Bureau of Ocean Power Administration (BOEM)’s strategic sources programme, advised a convention this week: “Realistically, I feel some enormous modifications must be occurring out there in provide chains, availability of ships, availability of uncooked supplies — all of that must change fairly considerably within the subsequent six years for us to see that 30GW really deployed.”
