International subsea engineering and expertise firm, SMD, has introduced the sale of its first electrical ROV to Luxembourg-based marine contractor, Jan De Nul Group.
SMD’s Quantum EV might be built-in into Jan De Nul Group’s new cable laying vessel, Fleeming Jenkin, and deployed to offshore power tasks globally.
The brand new fully-electric ROV provides superior ranges of stability, position-keeping, effectivity and reliability, for elevated efficiency throughout a variety of subsea functions, at a decrease operational value, says SMD.
Jan Van de Velde, Director Newbuilding at Jan De Nul Group, mentioned: “It’s a pleasure to announce our continued collaboration with fellow innovator, SMD. As soon as constructed, the Fleeming Jenkin would be the world’s largest and cleanest cable-laying vessel. Our consideration to setting and local weather is mirrored in SMD’s Quantum EV, which not solely provides superior effectivity and reliability but in addition consumes much less power and drastically reduces the danger of oil contamination.”
