The Metropolis of Lincoln has secured funding from the Nebraska Soybean Board (NSB) to kickstart the combination of B20 biodiesel into its municipal fleet.
In keeping with a launch from Nebraska Soy Beans, the biodiesel incentive program represents a pivotal second within the Metropolis’s ongoing dedication to sustainability and a concerted effort to curb carbon emissions.
The initiative will see the substitute of 215,000 gallons of petroleum diesel with B20 biodiesel, a major transfer affecting almost 130 fleet automobiles.

Biodiesel is a clean-burning different gas derived from renewable sources and is primarily produced from soybean oil.

Kim Morrow, Chief Sustainability Officer with the Metropolis of Lincoln, highlighted that research have demonstrated the lifecycle emissions of pure biodiesel are 74% decrease than these of normal diesel, underscoring the appreciable environmental benefits of this transition.
The discharge stated that the transfer aligns with Lincoln’s Local weather Motion Plan aim to scale back greenhouse fuel emissions by 80% by 2050. Roughly 13% added to the value per soybeans bushel bolsters farmers’ financial outlook.
