Sweden-based photo voltaic developer Alight has shared plans to construct a 90 MW photo voltaic park in Harjavalta, south west Finland.

The power is anticipated to cowl a complete space of 105 hectares and meet the annual electrical energy consumption of round 17,800 households.

Alight says a session with the neighborhood, held earlier this week, went “efficiently” and it’ll now compile a planning allow software. Development is scheduled to start in 2025, with plans for it to be operational by 2027.

“The park’s location is right for photo voltaic power manufacturing, as there may be ample daylight out there and the electrical energy grid is comparatively shut by. Moreover, the terrain is well-suited for the operation of a photo voltaic park,” stated Warren Campbell, Deputy CEO of Alight.

A spokesperson for Alight informed pv journal the photo voltaic park is “an enormous step in direction of our objective of getting 1.5 GW of photo voltaic tasks below improvement in Finland by the top of this yr”.

Final September, Alight introduced development of a 100 MW photo voltaic plant in western Finland.

Finland had deployed 900 MW of photo voltaic by the top of 2023, up from 664 MW the yr prior, in line with figures from Worldwide Renewable Power Company.

Final week, seven photo voltaic tasks totalling 213 MW throughout the nation got the go forward after signing grant agreements with the European Local weather, Infrastructure and Surroundings Government Company.
