The Japan Group for Metals and Power Safety (JOGMEC) has introduced the listing of six geothermal energy initiatives which were chosen for the 2024 Geothermal Useful resource Survey Subsidy Program. Three of the six initiatives are new, whereas the opposite three are continuation of beforehand funded ongoing initiatives.

The three new initiatives chosen for the most recent subsidy spherical underneath this system are as follows:

  • Gravity surveys, geochemical surveys, and complete evaluation for a geothermal challenge throughout the Bandai-Asahi Nationwide Park in Inawashiro City, Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture by Inexperienced Energy Engineering and IS Holdings.
  • Geological surveys, geochemical surveys, gravity surveys, electromagnetic surveys, and complete evaluation for a geothermal challenge throughout the Aso-Kuju Nationwide Park in Beppu Metropolis, Oita Prefecture by Nishimatsu Building and Marumat Geothermal.
  • Floor geological surveys, incidental development work, and surveys of uncommon crops and animals and water high quality for a geothermal challenge in Shibetsu-cho, Shibetsu-gun, Hokkaido by INPEX.

The following three are persevering with initiatives that had already been chosen in earlier subsidy rounds:

  • Built-in evaluation for a challenge within the Teshikaga City, Kawakami District, Hokkaido by Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd.

JOGMEC had beforehand supplied subsidies for geothermal energy initiatives that at the moment are both working or within the superior phases of growth. Notable examples embody the Minami-Kayabe geothermal energy plant (working), the Minami-Aso Yunotani Geothermal Energy Plant (working), the Matsuo Hachimantai geothermal energy plant (working), the Katatsumuri Yama geothermal energy plant (underneath development), and the Kijiyama geothermal energy plant (tentatively named) which is present process an environmental impression evaluation.
