The Ministry of Power and Mineral Assets of Indonesia has introduced tenders for the exploration of the Bora Pulu and Samosir geothermal prospect websites.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Power and Mineral Assets (MEMR / ESDM) has introduced separate tenders for the geothermal survey and exploration of two areas, specifically:
- Bora Pulu in Sigi Regency and Palu Metropolis, Central Sulawesi (52 MWe potential)
- Samosir in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra (150 MWe potential)
The websites are each categorised as Geothermal Preliminary Survey and Exploration Task Areas (WPSPE). Functions for the Bora Pulu WPSPE shall be accepted till the 4th of September 2024, whereas the applying for the Samosir WPSPE shall be open till the sixth of September 2024.

The exploration and growth license of the Samosir geothermal website had beforehand been held by KS Orka Renewables via wholly-owned subsidiary Sokoria Geothermal Singapore Pte. Ltd and PT Optima Nusantara. Bora Pulu had beforehand been beneath the checklist of web sites to be developed by PT PLN.
