GDC, Malawians in pact to develop geothermal


The Geothermal Improvement Firm (GDC) and the Electrical energy Era Firm (Malawi) LTD, (EGENCO) have signed a Collaboration Framework Settlement (CFA) on execution of geothermal initiatives in Malawi.

The CFA will deal with three broad areas specifically: technical help that features provision geoscientific research providers, assist in institutional framework improvement and useful resource mobilization.

Within the CFA, signed yesterday at Kawi Home, GDC will assist the Malawian’s quest for geothermal improvement.

The 2 Principals – Mr. Paul Ngugi, the Managing Director and CEO of GDC, and his Counterpart Mr. William Liabunya the CEO, EGENCO, agreed in precept to speed up the event of geothermal power in Malawi.

“This is a crucial milestone for our two entities as we search power options for Africa. GDC is honoured to be your accomplice of alternative as you embark on this thrilling journey of creating your geothermal resources,” Mr. Ngugi said soon after signing the CFA.

The CEO assured the Malawians that GDC has vast pool of expertise in geothermal technology that will come handy.

On his part, the ENGENCO CEO expressed his excitement saying that “It’s new beginnings for Malawi. We are happy to collaborate with GDC as we seek to diversify our energy sources.”

The CFA was witnessed by Ms. Agnes Muthengi, Ag. GM Legal Services and Ms. Videlia Mluwira, the ENGENCO Company Secretary. The ENGENCO team was also accompanied by Eng. Alfonso Chikuni the Malawi’s Secretary for Energy.

Mr. Ngugi noted that GDC is steadily expanding its footprints in the region. “Our brand is improving. We’re getting more stakeholders who want to do business with us. On this Malawi CFA, it’s a moment of celebration for GDC,” the CEO enthused.
