A breakaway barge loaded with containers has broken a pier alongside Seattle’s downtown waterfront.
The U.S. Coast Guard’s thirteenth District mentioned it was notified at 1:25 p.m. of a barge that drifted from the Port of Seattle’s Terminal 18 and struck Pier 66, inflicting some injury.
Pier 66 is situated in Seattle’s downtown waterfront and is house to the Bell Avenue Cruise Terminal and a small leisure marina.
The Coast Guard mentioned three tug boats have been in a position to acquire management of the barge and it was towed to Terminal 115.
