The Bureau of Ocean Power Administration (BOEM) has now set a brand new date for Gulf of Mexico oil and fuel Lease Sale 261. As we reported earlier, on November 14, a court docket dominated towards any additional delay of the sale.

“The Gulf of Mexico oil and fuel lease sale was initially scheduled for Sept. 27, 2023, and later scheduled for Nov. 8, 2023, in response to judicial orders.
“Pursuant to path from the Courtroom, BOEM will embody lease blocks that had been beforehand excluded on account of issues relating to potential impacts to the Rice’s whale inhabitants within the Gulf of Mexico.
