Boskalis welcomes cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean to its fleet

Boskalis has commissioned its new cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean. After sea trials within the North Sea following a giant conversion, she is able to begin on her maiden challenge within the German a part of the North Sea.

The pipe-laying vessel arrived in Rotterdam in August 2023 the place it was transformed right into a broadly deployable cable-laying vessel. The 136.6-meter-long vessel has been geared up with a 4,000-ton turntable and might accommodate 118 individuals.

After the conversion, the BOKA Ocean has been reunited within the Boskalis fleet along with her two sister vessels BOKA Northern Ocean and BOKA Southern Ocean. Though they’re comparable in look, every vessel has its personal specialty.

The BOKA Southern Ocean and BOKA Northern Ocean are high-end development help vessels, busy with IRM and decommissioning work within the North Sea and varied offshore wind farm development actions in Southeast Asia.

The BOKA Ocean will quickly set up her first subsea cable for an offshore wind farm in Europe. In 2021, Boskalis was awarded an inter-array cable set up contract by Ørsted for the German Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farms. The contract contains the transport, set up and burial of a mixed complete of 106 inter-array cables. Boskalis then stated it could use the BOKA Ocean. Picture: Herman IJsseling (Flying Focus)
