President Sultan al-Jaber, main the UN local weather talks in Dubai, clarified his stance amid controversy over remarks questioning the scientific hyperlink between fossil gasoline phaseout and attaining the 1.5°C temperature goal.
On Monday, al-Jaber emphasised respect for science, citing his engineering and financial background.
The COP28 President affirmed the inevitability of lowering fossil gasoline use and coal phaseout.
Mr Jaber stated: “I truthfully assume there’s some confusion on the market, and misrepresentation. I’m fairly shocked with the fixed and repeated makes an attempt to undermine the work of the COP28 presidency.”
IPCC Chair Jim Skea supported al-Jaber, reiterating the worldwide scientific consensus on the necessity for substantial fossil gasoline discount by 2050 to satisfy the 1.5°C goal.
