The Metropolis of Edinburgh Council is looking on tenants to offer suggestions on proposed hire will increase as a part of efforts to deal with housing challenges within the wake of a declared Housing Emergency.
With one month left for the session, tenants are inspired to share their views on potential hire charges for the approaching 12 months and the way the funds might be invested to boost housing.
A current price range technique report revealed a funding hole between the assets wanted to enhance housing and the accessible price range, primarily sourced from tenant rents and authorities grants.
The council considers elevating hire ranges to fulfill statutory power effectivity requirements, assemble new inexpensive houses for the homeless and improve landlord providers.
Councillor Jane Meagher, Housing, Homelessness and Truthful Work Convener, stated: “We recognise that this 12 months can be notably difficult for all residents with rising inflation, spiralling costs, and the broader price of dwelling disaster.
“These value hikes are affecting us too and we’re seeing the price of operating our housing providers improve, at a time once we desperately have to put money into new and higher houses and sort out rising homelessness.
“That’s why we now have declared a Housing Emergency, so we are able to work with companions to assist everybody who wants a protected place to name house.”
