A Sequence B financing spherical led by the Blue Ocean fund, managed by sustainable investor SWEN Capital Companions, reportedly raised $12m and can allow ECOsubsea, a Norwegian hull cleansing specialist to scale up its operations.
Whereas hull cleansing, the subject and the tech to get the job accomplished, have grown in prominence with the IMO’s push for maritime to cut back emissions, the differentiator for ECOsubsea’s expertise is that it’s designed to each clear and seize biofouling in a closed loop system.
“Our service is offered in parallel with port operations, it’s suitable with all coating varieties and can be utilized on any vessel,” mentioned ECOsubsea CEO Tor M Østervold in a press launch saying the funding. “Our objective is to wash a 400-meter container vessel in below 12 hours.”
Submerged robotic ‘vacuum cleaners’ transfer over the ship’s hull, eradicating biofouling and capturing the particles in a multi-layered processing system. The closed loop system protects native biodiversity from pollution and alien species.
