The GEODE initiative, aiming to leverage oil and fuel experience for geothermal, has formally been launched by a consortium led by Challenge InnerSpace.
The Geothermal Applied sciences Workplace (GTO) underneath the US Division of Vitality (US DOE) has formally kicked off the GEODE initiative. Led by Challenge InnerSpace, the initiative was launched at a two-day occasion in Houston, Texas.
The GEODE initiative (brief for “Geothermal Vitality from Oil and Gasoline Demonstrated Engineering”) will leverage the experience and expertise of the oil and fuel sector to spice up geothermal power nationwide. The $10 million funding alternative for the challenge was introduced in mid-2022.
The primary-of-its-kind consortium led by Challenge InnerSpace and the Society of Petroleum Engineers will lay the groundwork for a complete roadmap to unlock geothermal power’s potential. GEODE is convening consultants from each industries to leverage oil and fuel business know-how for geothermal innovation and determine areas for future GEODE analysis, pending appropriations.
GEODE is a part of GTO’s Hydrothermal Sources and Enhanced Geothermal Methods applications.
