Geothermal cooperation signed between HSGME and Iraklia Municipality, Greece

The municipality of Iraklia in Central Macedonia, Greece has signed a cooperation settlement with HSGME for improvement of the Lithotopos-Iraklia geothermal discipline.

On 6 August 2024, the Municipality of Iraklia and the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the exploitation, additional exploration, improvement, monitoring and administration of the Lithotopos-Iraklia low enthalpy geothermal discipline (“geothermal discipline of native curiosity” in response to the brand new Greek geothermal laws) within the Serres Regional Unit.

The municipality of Iraklia holds a 30-year lease (ranging from 17 November 2020) for the exploitation and administration of the Lithotopos-Iraklia geothermal discipline with the proper of unilateral extension of as much as 20 further years topic to the phrases of the lease and environmental safety. The Memorandum of Cooperation on Geothermal Vitality points between HSGME and the Municipality of Iraklia is the primary Memorandum of Cooperation signed between HSGME and a Municipality that has leased a Geothermal Subject of “native curiosity” (T<= 90 °C).
