A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the development of the 35-MW geothermal energy plant by OrPower Twenty-Two (OrPower 22), which would be the third energy plant to be provided by steam from the Menengai geothermal steam area in Nakuru, Kenya. Development is anticipated to take 14 months and will likely be accomplished mid-2026.

OrPower 22 will likely be investing $90 million in the direction of the challenge, which is below a Construct-Personal-Function scheme. The corporate is owned by China-based Kaishan Group Co. Ltd. after a 100% acquisition in late 2023.
