Hood River neighborhood shares native perspective with Vitality Belief board


Vitality Belief’s board of administrators took its assembly on the street in Could, spending two days in Hood River to listen to immediately from neighborhood members and native stakeholders. 

The board hosted a collection of panel discussions and a neighborhood occasion to heard views that may assist inform its work in creating Vitality Belief’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. 

Board members heard from panelists representing The Subsequent Door, the biggest social service company within the Columbia River Gorge; WyEast Useful resource Conservation and Improvement Space Council, an area rural growth group; and the Hood River Vitality Council, a community-led advisory physique that developed and now advances objectives of the Hood River Vitality Plan. 

In addition they heard from state representatives and elected officers about their power coverage priorities and targets at state and native stage. A 3rd panel featured views from utility representatives.  

Vitality Belief and Farmers Conservation Alliance co-hosted a neighborhood reception at FCA’s workplace. Govt Director Julie O’Shea spoke about FCA’s progressive work and investments with Vitality Belief in irrigation modernization, work that started greater than 20 years in the past and is now nationally acknowledged. 

Additionally on the reception, Vitality Belief’s board president, Henry Lorenzen, honored Hood River Vitality Council for its management, imaginative and prescient and dedication to power planning.  

Hood River was one of many first communities within the state to undertake a county-wide power plan again in 2018. 

“Hood River is a particular neighborhood with a longstanding dedication to sustainability and collaboration that has been useful to Vitality Belief’s growth over time,” mentioned Lorenzen. “The instance it set as an early adopter of neighborhood power planning is one which many different rural communities at the moment are following.”
