Massachusetts Stone Zoo Switches to Photo voltaic

Zoo New England’s Stone Zoo has introduced its photo voltaic array into operation, offering what the zoo says is 95% of its energy wants.

The array was constructed within the zoo parking zone, giving the zoo a chance to display the usage of this expertise with its guests.

“We’re completely thrilled that the photo voltaic array venture is now full, and producing clear power,” says John Linehan, president and CEO of Zoo New England.

“Conservation is the cornerstone of our mission, and this venture is in excellent alignment with our work to protect and shield wildlife and habitats, whereas making a extra sustainable future for us all. Nature has nice therapeutic capability and, if given the possibility, could be very efficient in combating the unfavourable impacts of local weather change. This clear power venture and others like it may be a part of the local weather answer.”

This venture was made potential with the assistance of State Senator Jason Lewis and State Consultant Michael Day, who secured $3 million for the array venture in 2021 from the Commonwealth.

SolarKal simplified the transition to photo voltaic power. Solect Power led the design and set up of the zoo’s photo voltaic cover system.
