Methanol-powered ship docks at port of Felixstowe

The ‘world’s first’ contained ship powered by inexperienced methanol has docked on the Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe.

Throughout the port’s occasion, Therese Coffey Secretary of State for the Setting and Kitack Lim, Secretary-Common of the Worldwide Maritime Organisation, had been in attendance and visited the vessel.

The Laura Maersk ship, boasting a capability of two,100 TEUs, will function on Maersk’s Baltic transport route, connecting Northern Europe with the Bay of Bothnia.

Clemence Cheng, the Govt Director of Hutchison Ports and Chief Govt Officer of Port of Felixstowe, mentioned: “It’s important that the trade strikes to decarbonise transport, and this primary name by an alternatively fuelled vessel enhances Hutchison Ports’ dedication to attain web zero for our UK operations by 2035.”
