Mitsubishi Supplies has introduced plans to conduct a geothermal survey in Shikabe City, Hokkaido, specializing in the Maruyama space (909 meters). The corporate goals to judge the positioning’s geothermal power potential, constructing on surface-level inspections carried out in November 2022.
The challenge will apply for funding from the Japan Power and Metals Sources Company (JOGMEC), with full-scale surveys set to start within the upcoming fiscal 12 months. Drilling of exploration wells is projected to begin in 2027.
At a public info session held on January 18 on the Shikabe Central Neighborhood Heart, firm representatives outlined the challenge’s methodology. Abe Tatsumi, head of the geothermal improvement division, defined the necessity for detailed research to evaluate geological elements reminiscent of subsurface cracks and water availability.
Mitsubishi Supplies, which operates geothermal crops in Akita and Iwate Prefectures, clarified that this survey doesn’t overlap with areas beforehand explored by different entities. The corporate intends to proceed neighborhood engagement all through the challenge.
