Ørsted has been granted a 1.6 GW electrical energy enterprise license (EBL) by the Ministry of Commerce, Business & Power of Korea for an offshore wind challenge situated 70 km off the coast of Incheon Metropolis.
The license grants Ørsted unique improvement rights for its gigawatt-scale Incheon offshore wind challenge, which is about to grow to be the biggest in Korea on completion and can contribute to the nation’s aim of being carbon-neutral by 2050.
The Ørsted challenge has the potential to help Incheon Metropolis’s net-zero goal with a capability to supply renewable power to over one million Korean households whereas decreasing carbon emissions by roughly 4 million tonnes yearly.
