BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Refinery burns have been popping up at a facility off of Rosedale Freeway for weeks now.

You may see big flames burning within the Bakersfield sky from the Westside Parkway to Espresso Highway and off of Rosedale Freeway. They’re referred to as refinery burns, also referred to as flaring, a security measure utilized by California refineries to stop harmful gases from inflicting hurt to the setting.

The flares sign a interval of latest exercise at Kern County’s largest refinery, owned by International Clear Power. In Could 2020, International Clear Power acquired the refinery off Rosedale Freeway. The purpose is to transform the refinery to supply renewable biodiesel gasoline.
