River Rhine In South Germany Closed To Delivery, Might

Rhine river transport stays stopped across the chokepoint of Maxau in south Germany, the German inland waterways navigation company WSA stated. The southern sector of the Rhine round Maxau was closed final week.

However water ranges are falling and the river may reopen on Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday night, the water stage forecasting service of the Rheinland-Pfalz state authorities in south Germany stated.

Excessive water means vessels don’t have sufficient area to sail below bridges and the blockage prevents vessels crusing to Switzerland.

Delivery on northern sections of the Rhine is working usually, together with at the details of Duisburg, Cologne and Mannheim.

The Rhine is a serious transport route for commodities together with minerals, coal and oil merchandise resembling heating oil, grains and animal feed.

The Rhine has repeatedly suffered from low water ranges due to unusually dry summers in recent times.
