Technipfmc To Provide Subsea Programs For Shell’S Sparta

Oilfield companies firm TechnipFMC has been awarded a ‘substantial contract’ by Shell for the provision of subsea manufacturing techniques for Sparta improvement within the Gulf of Mexico.

This would be the first built-in engineering, procurement, development, and set up (iEPCI) venture to make use of high-pressure subsea manufacturing techniques rated as much as 20,000 psi (20K), based on TechnipFMC.

The work scope consists of manufacturing and set up of subsea manufacturing techniques, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines for Shell’s Sparta improvement.

The tree techniques can be Shell’s first to be certified for 20K functions and are engineered to satisfy the high-pressure necessities of this greenfield improvement.

For TechnipFMC, a ‘substantial’ contract is between $250 million and $500 million.

“Sparta will mix our modern subsea know-how with our confirmed built-in execution mannequin, iEPCI, offering improved venture economics. We’re excited to be working with Shell on 20K know-how,” stated Jonathan Landes, President, Subsea at TechnipFMC.

To remind, Seatrium just lately began fabrication of Sparta semi-submersible floating manufacturing unit (FPU).

The Sparta FPU can be situated within the Backyard Banks space of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, roughly 275 kilometers off the coast of Louisiana. It’ll function a single topside bolstered by a four-column, semi-submersible floating hull and is designed to supply 90,000 barrels of oil equal per day (boe/d).

Sparta improvement straddles 4 blocks of the Backyard Banks space in roughly 1,300 meters (4265 toes) of water depth.
