The American Braveness, a 617-foot lake freighter that ran aground within the St. Clair River November 7 at 7:21 a.m. native, was efficiently refloated round 7 p.m. with the assistance of towing vessels from Nice Lakes Towing.

The American Braveness was yesterday anchored north of Marine Metropolis, Mich., within the St. Clair River and was anticipated to dock at Marine Metropolis between 2 a.m. and three a.m. on November 8. There have been no accidents to crew members or those who responded and no air pollution was noticed or reported.

The Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Staff Detroit will confirm the correct place of all aids to navigation affected and the U.S. Military Corps of Engineers will conduct an underwater survey to confirm channel depth and to find out if there are any impacts from the grounding.

The lake freighter is one in every of 10 self-unloading bulkers operated by Grand River Navigation, a division of Rand Logistics. Mixed with its Canadian sister firm, Decrease Lakes Towing Ltd., the operation has a mixed fleet of 16 vessels.
