Vigor Marine LLC, Seattle, Wash, has been awarded a $124,223,521 firm-fixed-price contract to furnish the fabric, assist, and services; and supply the administration, technical, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and high quality assurance mandatory to arrange and attain the repairs and alterations required to finish the fiscal 2024 drydocking chosen restricted availability of the USS Barry (DDG 52).
The contract awarded Vigor consists of choices that, if exercised, would convey its cumulative worth of this contract to $211,122,402. Work shall be carried out in Seattle.
Constructed at Ingalls Shipbuilding, the USS Barry is the second ship within the Arleigh Burke class of guided missile destroyers and was commissioned in December1992
Following six years of forward-deployed service within the Indo-Pacific area, since March 17, the USS Barry has been homeported at Naval Station Everett, Wash.
The Vigor Marine contract was not competitively procured. The DOD announcement says the sole-source award was made “beneath the authority of 10 U.S. Code 3204(a)(3) – It’s essential to award the contract to a specific supply or sources so as: to attain industrial mobilization; to determine or keep an important engineering, analysis, or growth functionality; or to acquire the providers of an skilled, in an effort to defend towards the degradation of the expert labor and administration throughout the Everett, Washington, homeport space and keep a significant trade accomplice with the essential infrastructure and expertise to finish floor ship upkeep.”
The contracting exercise is the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Upkeep Facility, Bremerton, Washington (N4523A24C0551).
