Dominion Vitality’s 2.6GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) array, the nation’s largest, continued its march in direction of set up with starting of water commissioning of its essential building vessel, the $625m Charybdis following final week’s remaining federal approval from the Environmental Safety Company (EPA).
Dominion introduced Tuesday that Charybdis, the US’ first and up to now, solely Jones Act-compliant offshore wind turbine set up vessel (WTIV), below building by Singapore’s Seatrium at its Brownsville, Texas, shipyard, was “efficiently launched from land to water”, marking completion of the vessel’s hull and commissioning of its 4 jack-up legs.
