The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the New York Energy Authority (NYPA) started development of what the state calls its largest onsite photo voltaic plus storage challenge to this point: a photo voltaic carport cover at John F. Kennedy Worldwide Airport.
As soon as operational, the challenge is anticipated to assist energy the AirTrain and cut back electrical energy prices for residents of low-income neighborhoods in Queens. Positioned within the airport’s long-term car parking zone 9, the JFK photo voltaic carport will likely be erected as a cover and is anticipated to generate 12 MW.
